Dining and restaurants

Dining on board is one thing that sets Fred. Olsen aside; you can rest assured it will be one of the highlights of your holiday. Whether it’s a fabulous feast from the buffet; our luxuriant À la carte menu; or the heavenly accompaniments to Afternoon Tea; each has been painstakingly planned by our on board team of expert chefs. Which is why receiving the “Britain’s Best Cruise Line for Food” accolade at the 2015 Holiday & Cruise TV Awards was the perfect testament to the dedication and hard work of our staff.

Award winning fine dining

Start off the morning in style, with everything from fresh fruit to a full English Breakfast to set you up for the day ahead. Lunch can be as a light or indulgent as you wish, followed by a delightful afternoon tea, served with a selection of freshly-made treats. And then onto the pièce de résistance, a mouth-watering five-course À la carte dinner, with devilish desserts created to tantalise. There are even late night snacks for those who – somehow – are still a little peckish.

We have tempting dishes for vegetarians and healthy eating options of course, including many fish dishes inspired by our proud Norwegian heritage. If you have any special dietary requests, simply let us know at the time of booking. There are limits to what we can do on board, but we’ll do our utmost to make sure your needs are met wherever we can.

Al fresco dining at The Grill

The Grill restaurant offers a superb alternative dining option when the weather is warm. Combine the relaxing sounds of the ocean with the view from the aft deck, as our chefs freshly prepare your meal in the open kitchen. With a delicious dinner menu including options such as starters of seared scallops or filled panciotti and grilled mixed seafood or succulent prime-cut grilled steak as main courses, this extra special, premium experience is not to be missed.

Spaces are limited, so dinner at The Grill must be booked on board in advance of the evening. A supplement applies.

The Bookmark Café

Available on all our ships, The Bookmark Café is the place to enjoy your favourite caffeine fix in the middle of the ocean, accompanied by a sweet treat perhaps. You’ll find an assortment of delectable chocolates, from extravagant champagne truffles to melt-in-your-mouth pralines, alongside a menu of speciality hot drinks. Sip on premium British blends from Taylors of Harrogate’s, including intensely rich espresso or aromatic loose leaf tea. All of available at very reasonable prices.

Treat yourself to Traditional Afternoon Tea

Afternoon Tea and cakes are served on board every afternoon with our compliments. But for something a little more exclusive, opt for our superior Traditional Afternoon Tea service – a quintessential British pastime. Admire the view from the comfort of our stylish Observatory Lounge, while white-gloved waiters serve you a choice of teas from specialist Taylors of Harrogate along with a selection of freshly-made sandwiches, scrumptious cakes and warm scones with jam and clotted cream. A pianist playing gently in the background completes the sophisticated ambience.

Traditional Afternoon Tea is available for just £7.95 per person. It is recommended to anyone who enjoys being spoilt and would like a typically British experience.

Approximate price for Afternoon Tea is $11.35. Please note that this is an indicative price.

Drinks at UK pub prices

Unlike some other cruise lines, our drinks don’t cost a small fortune. We want you to relax and enjoy yourself, without worrying about your bar bill at the end of your holiday. Our drinks prices are very reasonable, with a glass of house white costing £3.95, a pint of beer £3.25 – and that British favourite – a gin and tonic, around £3.60 (depending on the brand of gin).*

We offer an extensive wine list to enjoy with dinner, featuring a fantastic selection at sensible prices. You may even be tempted to celebrate your holiday with champagne – and when a bottle of Lanson costs less than £40*, why not?

Approximate prices in USD – glass of house white = $5.64, pint of beer = $4.64, Gin & Tonic = $5.14, Bottle of Lanson Champagne = $57.10.
